We’ve a whole lots of #GLYCOPEELS booked in this week!
Want to give one a try?
What is a Glycopeel, I hear you ask?🤷🏻♀️
A #Glycolic Peel is a type of #cosmetic treatment used to deeply #exfoliate the #skin. Professionally done #chemicalpeels come in three strengths: mild, medium, and deep.
#Glycolicacid is an alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA), derived from sugar cane, sugar beets, and other substances. It’s used as a medium-strength chemical peel. Glycolic acid has #anti-inflammatory and #antioxidant properties within in too ️
Glycolic acid peels are effective for treating several skin conditions. This treatment is done either professionally by doctors or trained and licensed cosmetologists or aestheticians, although mild glycolic peel versions can also be purchased and used at home
How does a glycolic acid peel work?
Glycolic acid peels slough off the surface and middle layers of skin, removing dead #skincells and debris. Since it’s made up of small #molecules, it readily penetrates skin, removing the lipids that hold dead skin cells together. The percentage of glycolic acid contained within the peel determines how deeply it can penetrate the skin’s layers – here @andsobeautiful, we start all treatments at just 10% glycolic acid, and we then gradually work up to 30% if the treatment is taken regularly and the skin has not reacted negatively to treatment. Glycolic acid peels are the most common #alpha-hydroxy acid peels used by dermatologists, and when performed correctly, they’re considered safe and cause no downtime for people who get them. To acquire optimal results, you may require several peels over a period of time as determined by your therapist, often increasing the percentage of glycolic acid as the skin becomes accustomed to its application.
Benefits of using a glycolic acid peel on your skin;
loosens and lifts #excessoil from hair follicle roots, which is why it’s often used to treat #acne
suppresses the production of #melanin, making it beneficial for reducing #darkspots and #pigmentation.
effective for removing #blackheads, #whiteheads, and #pimples from skin.
help to #reduceporesize, so amazing for oily, combination and #ageingskin.
consistent and repeated use of glycolic acid peels have been shown to be effective for removing #cysticlesions and acne scars from skin.
glycolic acid has also been found to be effective for reducing the occurrence of #ingrownhairs on the face and body and also helps reduce the scarring caused by ingrown hairs.
through the stimulation of collagen and elastin, a glycolic acid treatment can also effectively treat #stretchmarks. Since stretch marks often start out as red or purple (striae ruba)and eventually turn white (striae alba), a glycolic acid peel will stimulate collagen production in the skin, thus in turn treating white stretch marks (striae alba).
Dark spots (post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation)
Trauma to the skin can result in producing excess melanin, which causes dark spots called post-inflammatory #hyperpigmentation. This type of trauma can result from a number of causes, including overuse of chemical products, acne, and #eczema. Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation presents as flat patches that are tan, brown, or black in color. This condition typically resolves completely after the application of 6 to 8 trusted source glycolic acid peels.
#Melasma is a type of hyperpigmentation that causes dark patches to form on skin. These patches often occur symmetrically on the face. This condition is also known as cholasma and is common during #pregnancy. Whilst this treatment is not recommended during pregnancy, if the Malasma does not fix itself post delivery of baby, a course can be taken shortly afterwards
Peels can also treat #photoaging, which presents itself as #prematureageing, usually due to too much sun exposure. Symptoms of photoaged skin include:
actinic Keratosis – rough with scaly patches which can become cancerous if not removed.
Mild symptoms of the above can often be treated effectively with glycolic acid peels, however severe signs of photoaging, such as deep wrinkles, typically require medical treatment.
